If I was a famous author I would publish a book with ten different endings which all went to print with varying degrees of rarity, but not tell the fans about it so that I could watch their confusion as they disagree over how the story ended. Then when they figured it out I would ‘come clean’, telling them that I had released eleven alternate endings and watch them panic again as they all try to find the last ending.

So my mom and I have been working the same waitress job for 5-6 years now. She had been waitressing years before, but this is recently. Anyway, about… 15 minutes ago this guy she waited on left and told her to take care. Just that. Prior to this she had talked to him about Italy. Her people are from Florence, this and that, and she said she’s never been. She’s got 8 years of art education and she’s working a waitress job. It’s pretty… Sad and disappointing, I guess. Her and my father divorced 6 years ago and she hasn’t had a real job ever. Just been stuck in a small town she’s not from.

This man who we have never seen before tipped her 1000 dollars for a trip to Italy. Walked out, not another word.

…you know. Just when I start to lose faith in humanity….Hm.

When I a millionaire I am going to do this ALL THE TIME. Yes. Wonderful.

READ THE POLICY

Just a reminder, for anyone who has placed orders with me, or is thinking of placing orders with me, PLEASE read the commission policy. It is VERY important. I break my own rules all the time by accepting payments late, shipping early, not charging for rush fees or two day shipping on rush orders, doing free alterations, rescheduling due dates, etc. to accommodate my customers, but I do not HAVE to do these things. I have all of my policies and payment rules covered in the policy that I refer everyone to before finalizing any orders.

During the several years that I have been in business, I have had a few problems with customers not making their final payments on time, so I just wanted to take a minute to comment on it. I am sure other commissioners have had similar problems, but this is the biggest one that I have had so far.

I have two big rules when it comes to payments: Cover the materials cost with your first payment, and have the full cost paid in full at least three weeks before the order is supposed to ship. I often get customers who do not make the last payment until a week before the costume is supposed to be in their hands, or until I email them and ask where their last payment is. I have a lot of orders every month, and I state in my policy that it is the customers job to keep up with their own payments. I do not have time to email every single person that I have on my order list and ask them when their next payment is going to be made. I have a very unique payment policy which allows people to make their payments as they can afford them instead of demanding half up front, or a rigid monthly payment plan. I do this because I feel like it helps people feel more comfortable placing large orders. The downside is that this means that my customers are responsible for keeping up with their own payments. According to my commission policy, if I am not paid in full three weeks before the scheduled SHIPPING date, then I do not HAVE to ship your costume on time. It’s like anything else that requires payments, if payments aren’t made on time, you don’t get your product on time either.

It is important to read ANY company’s policies before ordering from them, and if they have directed their customers to their policy page before committing to work with them, then it is the customers job to be familiar with the guidelines and expectations that the company has taken the time to outline for their buyers.

This is not meant to be offensive, it is just a problem I have run into several times, and I think that it would make life a little bit easier if customers actually read and understood what all needs to be taken care of before agreeing to purchase from any company, but particularly when they are thinking of ordering from a company that does custom, hand made work. A LOT of time and effort goes into handmade custom orders of any kind, and companies take the time to work up a policy for a reason. They want to cover all of their bases and keep their customers well informed of the things that need to happen for a custom order to be completed. So please, please, take the time to read the store policy before you think about placing an order with any custom commission company.

I just noticed, when she says ‘you most’ she breaks eye contact to look at her hair

There’s so much symbolism in this movie though like when the mirror breaks at the end and all the stuff about the hair so along with being extremely cute and catchy Tangled is also really deep.

I could watch this movie forever.

Gothel directs most of her loving gestures towards Rapunzel’s hair. In “Mother Knows Best”, Gothel gives a particularly noticeable, prolonged look at her hair and rubs her cheek against it. She also calls Rapunzel her “flower” several times.

First time watching “Tangled”, afterwards I thought, but Mother Gothel did seem to care for her in the beginning. Did she actually care for her, just a little? But after watching it a second time, I noticed all of her subtle ways of emotionally manipulating Rapunzel into being dependent on her (convincing her that staying inside was for her own good, and constantly chipping away at her self esteem before dismissing it as “just teasing” with a smile and a wave, keeping her compliant with small kindnesses like going away to get Rapunzel the shells she wanted), and all of the subtle signs that even as Gothel acted like she loved Rapunzel, all she really cared about was her hair.

Basically, “Tangled” is really clever at showing an emotionally abusive, parasitic and manipulative family relationship. It’s effective because it’s so subtle.

Something else I’ve noticed is that every time Gothel touches Rapunzel’s hair, it’s to bring it to the front, closer to herself, while every time Flynn touches it, it’s to push it away from her face so that he can see her, not the hair.

“Because we were going to have one actress playing a dual role in the film, we had to design costumes for her as the Queen that would serve to hide her identity.” The complexity and size of the dress, however, lead to a difficult, involved construction. McCaig suggested to George Lucas that they design a dress with ‘lanterns’ in it, and while Lucas responded skeptically, he allowed the dress to be attempted. Consequently, for eight weeks and for a cost of $60,000 the costuming department strived to make this dress work. Construction began with an undergarment shaped like an ice-cream cone that was fitted perfectly to Natalie Portman. Several layers of canvas were needed to not only maintain the bell shape, but to support the weight of the wires and lights connected to the batteries necessary to light-up the dress. And while the costume was originally going to be velvet, lighting issues mandated a change to silk. The headdress was a complex construction as well. Intricate gold work covered the headdress while vintage red lace was used as an overlay on the blade-shaped side panels. Similar to the Eastern influence of many of the other TPM gowns, Trisha Biggar felt this ensemble had a “a sort of Chinese Imperial feel.”
